Indigo Healthcare are interested in looking at CVs of doctors who are looking for opportunities at consultant level to joining the Psychiatry team at a Trust that we are working with in Plymouth in the southwest.

£84,559 - £114,003 

Job Description:

The In-patient Consultant looks after 10(+1) beds in Edgcumbe (Dementia/organic ward) and 15/9 beds in Cotehele (Functional) ward for OPMHS. The case mix is broad and includes patients with dementia of any age and functional patients generally over the age of 65, although this is under review in accordance with Faculty guidelines. Most of the patients admitted from community, residential/nursing homes, and Derriford Hospital where patients were initially seen by Liaison Team based there and discussed with OPMHS during admission. There is an experienced multi-disciplinary team across these wards including nursing, occupational therapists, physiotherapist, psychologist and STRs. An advanced specialist clinical pharmacist in older people attends consultant ward rounds and provides invaluable support to the department. These wards are supported by a Deputy Head of Service, Lisa Gimingham and a new Modern Matron who is joining the organisation in October 2020.). The post is likely to have an element of hybrid working. The post holder will move between wards to provide direct patient care

The In-patient Consultant will be supported by one Core Trainee, one WAST, when allocated, and one F2 doctor. They will provide clinical supervision to both the junior doctors.

Essential Criteria:

  • Full GMC registration with license to practice
  • Inclusion on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of this.
  • Extensive Knowledge in Old Age Psychiatry
  • MRCPsych is Desirable.
  • Evidence of a special interest is also desirable.
