Permanent Positions available.


£84,559 - £114,003 

Job Overview:

The Community Child Health Department is part of the Children’s and Young People Care Group of Medway Maritime Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The clinical team consists of 1 WTE Consultant Community Paediatrician (advertised post), 2.0 WTE Associate Specialist Community Paediatricians and a 1.0 WTE ADHD Nurse. There is also a 1 WTE Specialist Registrar Training fixed-term post for 6 months on rotation from the KSS Deanery Training scheme.

We work closely with the Children’s Therapy team who are managed by Medway Community Healthcare (MCH). We also work with School Nursing and the Health Visiting Service who are both managed by Kent Community Health Foundation Trust. The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is provided by the Northeast London Foundation Trust (NELFT).

The Community Paediatric team provides service for the Swale area of Kent with clinic sites at the Orchards, a purpose-built multi-agency specialist provision and Sheppey Community Hospital which is located on the Isle of Sheppey. The administrative base for the Team is in the Community Paediatrics hub which is situated at the Magpie Centre on the Medway Maritime Hospital site. There is full secretarial and administrative support as well as access to pathology and radiological diagnostic support.


Medway NHS Foundation Trust is the largest single site acute healthcare trust in Kent. We have a proud history, originating in 1905 when a Royal Naval Hospital was opened on the site. Just over a century later, Medway NHS Foundation Trust was the first hospital in Kent to achieve Foundation Trust status. We continue to expand and modernise the array of services on offer to the people of the Medway towns, Swale, and the wider West Kent region.

Medway Maritime is an Associated University Hospital with strong links to the Guy’s, King’s, and St Thomas’ (GKT) Medical School. Medway Maritime is a fully accredited teaching hospital for the new Kent & Medway Medical School (KMMS) opened in 2020 and having hospital-based students in 2022.


Essential Criteria:

  • MRCPCH or equivalent registration.
  • Full GMC registration.
  • Entry on the GMC specialist register for Paediatric Medicine.
  • 10+ Years of experience in Paediatric Medicine.
  • Minimum of 6 months NHS experience at consultant level is required
  • Current ALS certificate
