About the Role:

As a Consultant Histopathologist, you'll play a pivotal role in providing a high-quality general histopathology/diagnostic cytology service. This is a new post, creating a team of five full-time Pathologists, with opportunities for sub-specialty interests development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Share histopathology and cytopathology workload equally with other consultant pathologists
  • Provide professional direction of the histopathology/cytopathology service
  • Ensure the proper functioning of the department in conjunction with consultant colleagues
  • Participate in regional and national EQA schemes
  • Comply with Trust policies and procedures
  • Take on additional work as needed, both within and external to contracted commitment

About You:

  • Full registration and licence to practice with the GMC and be on the Specialist Register in Histopathology (or eligible within six months of interview)
  • Hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of award of CCT by the date of interview
  • FRCPath or evidence of equivalent qualification
  • Thorough and broad-based training in histopathology/cytopathology/post-mortem examination
  • Demonstrated high level of clinical experience and competence in histopathology/cytopathology
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients
