Consultant in Ophthalmology

Salary £91,474 - £121,548 10 PAs + full relocation package.(40 hours per week)
Indigo Healthcare have the pleasure of working with a great Scottish Health Board. The main hospital is a purpose built state of the art facility with 344 bed, each patient has their own room with en-suite facilities and employees have access to such things as the Sanctuary for mediation and prayer as well as lovely outside gardens. The hospital is based in a lovely, vibrant friendly town with great schools and two Universities.
The department provides provides an Opthalmology service for a population of 148,500. Medical staff are supported by Nurse Practitioners in Glaucoma, Cataract and Plastics clinics. The paediatric service is fully supported by the Orthoptic team.
The successful candidate will join a team of five consultants, (including this post) and a Specialty Doctor. There is a senior nursing team comprising of a Senior Charge Nurse, Theatre Sister and an Outpatient Ophthalmology Sister. The hospital’s Emergency Department provides 24-hour cover for ophthalmic emergencies where emergency patients are firstly reviewed. Consultant Ophthalmologists are first on-call from 5 pm and at weekends, providing 1 in 5 on call with prospective cover. This is currently under review with the aim to provide daytime cover only locally.
Requirements include:
- GMC registration with a full licence to practice or eligible to gain it
- Specialist GMC registration would be ideal
- FRCS/MRCS/FRCOphth
- Evidence of experience in the speciality/ability to offer an expert clinical opinion
